My family recently vacationed at Dreams Playa Mujeres. As always we hopped around and visited a few different properties.  For the first part of our trip we stayed at Azul Beach Riviera Maya (full review HERE) and for the last 3 nights, we stayed at Dreams Playa Mujeres.  Both resorts were amazing, so completely different but both great in their own way.  I love this resort so much that it was on my list of top family-friendly resorts in Riviera Maya.  Click HERE for that list.

Dreams Playa Mujeres is located in a gated community 16km north of Cancun and only 40-minute from the Cancun airport.  This beautiful resort opened in the fall of 2016.  It is ultra-modern and luxurious.  From the moment we stepped into the grand lobby we knew we were going to be in for a treat!

Upon arrival, we escorted to the Preferred Club Lobby for private check-in.  The Preferred Club is Dreams’ Resort VIP service.  It offers special concierge service, access to the private lounge, and certain restaurant and amenities that are not available to all guests. At Dreams Playa Mujeres only Preferred Guests have access to the lazy river.  To have access to this area, it’s a good idea to upgrade your room category.

After check-in, we were escorted by our concierge to our Preferred Club 2-Bedroom Villa.  There are only 12 Villas on the property.  These exclusive suites are in a very private area surrounding the lazy river. I have to say, this suite was absolutely AMAZING!  Probably the best I have personally experienced in Mexico and the Caribbean.  And I normally visit about 30 resorts per year so this is a BIG statement.

This particular room category is 1,580 sq. feet and offers 2 bedrooms.  One bedroom offers a king bed and a second room with 2 queen beds.  Each with its own private bathroom.  Upon entering the Villa there was a large living room area with a full sofa (can be converted into a bed for 2 more guests for a total occupancy of 8 people), a dining table, kitchenette with Nespresso coffee machine, 48” flat-screen satellite TV, and more space than you can imagine.  I also loved the Dream Box for private room service delivery.  The 3 bathrooms were fantastic and definitely great for the evening when we were all getting ready for dinner at the same time.  The highlight for the children was definitely the private hot tub right on our patio.  Be sure to click on the video below for a full walkthrough of this amazing room category.

Soon after we explored the property and we were over-joyed by all the amenities.  The first place my kids wanted to check out was the waterslides of course (and me too!!).  With two 328-foot massive slides, it provided my kids hours and hours of fun.  The resort also offered a splash pad for the little ones with a giant splash bucket and smaller slides.

We also checked out the resort’s daily itinerary and it was jam-packed with Spanish lessons, tequila tastings, beach and pool volleyball, theme nights, and beach parties.  My tween son loved the archery, batting cages, and beach football with the teens club.  My daughter was obsessed with the Explorer’s Club where she did crafts, had a treasure hunt, built sandcastles, played board games, and made instant-friendships.  She also raved about the ‘bar’ in the kid’s club which served a variety of kid-centric drinks like smoothies.

Being the foodie that I am, I just loved all the food variety.  One night we enjoyed authentic Mexican at Tres Colores, Brazilian Steak at Gaucho Grill, and Teppanyaki Grill at Fusion.  With a total of 10 dining options in total, including a 24-hour snack bar with pizza and burgers, there was always something available to indulge.  I must say that we also loved the variety of bars, with 13 of them we never had to walk more than a few minutes to grab our favourite cocktail of the day.

This review really only scratches the surface of everything this amazing resort has to offer, all the services and amenities that make it a 5-star resort are well worth the cost.  I didn’t even tell you about the amazing pools, fabulous beach, huge spa, exciting evening entertainment….the list goes on!
