At the end of 2015 I took the biggest leap of my life. I took a risk. A some what calculated risk and some what brazen one as well. My whole life I followed a very traditional path of university, graduation, employment, marriage, children….and everything that came with being an adult. My life was full, it was great but I felt like I was slowly dying working in the corporate world. Working for someone else. Working to help someone else’s dreams get realized. Working the grind. Working the rat race and feeling so unfulfilled.
I knew I had one passion in life, travelling. I knew that I wanted to help people fulfill their travel dreams and live my true self. So I took the leap and entered the entrepreneurial world. One that I had no experience in. One that was met with hesitation and pessimism from those around me. I will never forget when I resigned my corporate job and the CFO said to me, “what are you going to do now, go home and wait for the phone to ring?” I said “HELL NO! I’m going to hustle”. I’m going to bust my ass and make that phone ring, and HUSTLE I DID.
Within 1.5 years of working part time in the travel business my agency Clara Power TPI was recognized by the Disney Travel Company as an “Authorized Disney Vacation Planner.” Within 6 months of working full time I achieved the second highest sales level within the Travel Professionals International sales program called Velocity. This is the second year that I jumped a full category and now I find myself among some of the most successful agents within TPI who have many more years of experience than I have. I have achieved DIAMOND level. I know this doesn’t mean much to you, but to me this is an accomplishment that I planned to reach in 3 years time and I reached it working my business on a full time basis for 6 months.
So thank you! Thank you to you, my clients who have entrusted me with your vacation planning. Thank you to TPI for creating such a wonderful and motivating sales program. Thank you to Carl, my supportive and ever knowledgeable mentor. Thank you to my family who have endured my late nights and not so pleasant attitude as I send “just one more email.”
And you know what goes well with Diamonds? Platinum.
Platinum, my friend, I am coming for you!
